The Oyster Cloyster Festival is an elegant evening of fine food surrounded by talented musicians creating merriment throughout the Oregon Coast Aquarium’s captivating exhibits. The event is a fundraiser for the Aquarium Science program at Oregon Coast Community College.

Attention city slickers, it’s time to saddle up and get ready to ride into 2011, cowboy-style as The Mill Casino • Hotel ushers in 2011 with an all day/ all night Rockin’ Wild West New Year’s Eve Party on Friday, Dec. 31.
The party starts on Friday at High Noon right on the casino floor where guests of The Mill Casino will be treated to triple points, line dancing lessons, trick roping demonstration and the chance to wrangle gift cards and other prizes for having the slickest boot scootin’ moves and snappiest bib and tucker (aka Wild West duds).
Come evening, The Mill will be giving guests a number of ways to celebrate the arrival of 2011. The hot ticket of the night is sure to be the Boots and Boogie dance party in the Salmon Room featuring The Brick House band, a midnight champagne toast and a bodacious balloon drop, Wild West party favors as well as the chance to win gift cards in dance and costume contests.

In addition to the Salmon Room’s Boots and Boogie party, guests can groove for free to Hookah Stew inside Warehouse 101, while those playing slots and table games on the casino floor will be treated to cowboy beads, rockin’ western tunes and a midnight “cow-fetti” countdown.
For those who want to feast before – or after – the big shindig, The Saw Blade will be offering a $24.95 New Year’s Eve all you can eat Seafood Buffet from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, followed by a $19.95 New Year’s Day Champagne brunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Along with the dance parties, costume contests and great dining deals, The Mill also will be giving casino players the chance to win big. We were sad to say good bye to new friends over the weekend as we wrapped up the 2010 Cranberry Harvest RV Jamboree. The event kicked off October 6 and included Canoe Rides, Entertainment, Pet Paparazzi photos, a traditional Salmon Bake dinner and so much more.

Conditions on Coos Bay were absolutely perfect for canoe excursions on Friday afternoon, with tranquil water and a warm gentle breeze. Even the fish were jumping, as if to say “the water is fine, come on in.”
RV Jamboree guests also went on an excursion to the southern end of Coos Bay, where they got to see the annual cranberry harvest at Coquille Cranberries, plus an excellent presentation by the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology.
The Rez Kitchen Tour took place last weekend at The Mill Casino and featured live cooking demonstrations, a juried Chef’s Competition, People’s Choice Awards, traditional native music, vendor booths, and free samples of delicious artfully prepared dishes inspired by thousands of years of tradition.
In addition to the public events, members of the Food and Beverage and Purchasing Departments of Oregon’s Tribal Casinos met for a Round Table Discussion that focused on increasing the utilization of eco-friendly and sustainable products and foodstuffs produced by Tribal members and Tribal-owned businesses.
Our hats off to everyone who participated in the event- and a special thank you to Events Manager, Vickie Strandridge (see Vickie in the KCBY 11 video below) and Chef Dan Catanio and his culinary team for their outstanding work- The Mill Casino team won three awards:
