Tickets Now on Sale for the “The Coats” Annual Holiday Show

Pacific Northwest’s premiere a cappella band is coming back to the Mill Casino!

The Mill Casino invites you to kick off the holiday season, a Cappella Style, with the The Coats November 23, 2013  for two shows filled with holiday music from their award winning CD’s.

The band, known for their incomparable harmony and high-octane vocal extravaganza, will be singing a variety of timeless holiday classics.

One of the earliest ‘contemporary’ a cappella groups, the Coats began performing together in 1987 on the street corners of Seattle, Wash., and at the famous Pike Place Market, when the four members were studying at the University of Washington.

Singing for tourists, locals, fish vendors and fellow huskers, their humble ambition of earning enough to pay for their tuition at the University of Washington quickly evolved into a full-time international performance career.

The Coats have since won a number of national vocal competitions, have performed for the President of the United States and have been fortunate enough to share the stage with such talented entertainers as Ronnie Milsap, Trisha Yearwood, Montgomery Gentry, The Beach Boys, Tanya Tucker, Billy Dean, Crystal Gayle and Colin Ray, all while continuing their tradition of outreach performances and workshops supporting music in schools throughout the Pacific northwest.

Tickets for The Coats’ 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. performances on Nov. 23 are on sale now at Ko-Kwel Gifts for $15 or charge by phone at 1.800.953.4800 ext. 9.

Tree or Wreath Sponsors Needed for the Annual Festival of Trees

Annual Event Raises Funds for Local Charities

Do you consider yourself to be a holiday decorating guru?  If so, we could use your help!

Businesses, organizations and individuals have an opportunity to help families in need while getting into the holiday spirit through the annual Festival of Trees, a holiday-themed fundraiser sponsored by The Mill Casino • Hotel and the Bay Area Rotary.

Raising over $13,000 last year, the Festival of Trees lets participants demonstrate their holiday-decorating talents while raising money for local charities. This year’s goal is to raise $15,000 for such charities as Shots for Tots, The Women’s Safety and Resource Center and Coddington Place.

Participants simply choose to sponsor a tree or a wreath by Nov. 4, or while available trees last. Then, at 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, sponsors bring their chosen decorations to The Mill Casino’s Salmon Room for the annual Festival of Trees Decorating Party, complete with complimentary refreshments and holiday tunes.

Following the decorating party, a panel of judges will award the top choice in the following categories: Most Whimsical, Most Original, Best Theme, Best Wreath, Judges’ Choice and, of course, Best of Show. The decorated trees and wreaths will be placed on display throughout The Mill’s hotel lobby through Dec. 4.

Each tree will go to the highest bidder during a public auction that begins promptly at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 in The Mill’s Salmon Room. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. to allow potential bidders to take one more look at the trees.

The fully decorated trees will be delivered (up to 30 miles away) to the winning bidder’s home or office on Friday, Dec 6, 2013. Auction winners may also request to have their tree donated to a needy family on December 6 as well.

The Mill Casino • Hotel contributes to the purchase of the trees and wreaths so that sponsorship and auction proceeds from the Festival of Trees can go directly to local charities. In addition, local vendors are used when purchasing trees and wreaths for this Bay Area Rotary fundraiser.

Businesses, organizations and individuals interested in helping those in need are encouraged to participate by sponsoring and/or decorating a tree and/or wreath. To learn more about how to get involved with this event, contact Festival Coordinator, Heidi Proett at 541-269-7929
