Over 500 Visitors Coming to the Mill for the Monaco International Motor Coach Rally

Press Releases, RV Park Comments Off

More than 500 visitors and their RVs will be rolling into town beginning Aug. 1 as Monaco International celebrates its 30th anniversary with a motor coach rally at The Mill Casino • Hotel & RV Park.

This will be the first time the national organization will hold its anniversary rally on Oregon’s South Coast. Monaco International is a chapter of the Family Motor Coach Association, which held a successful rally for over 1,200 participants at The Mill in 2012.

Formal activities for the event begin Aug. 6, but most participants will arrive several days early to take advantage of regional attractions.

“Hosting an event like this is a great privilege for The Mill and an even greater opportunity for our communities to show what we have to offer travelers to our region,” said Terri Porcaro, general manager of The Mill Casino • Hotel & RV Park. “Visitors at the 2012 event were thrilled with how they were received by our communities, which helped inspire Monaco International to bring their rally to the South Coast.”

Although the event is open to FMCA members only, a vendor show and display of RV coaches is open to the public Aug. 6-8.

The Mill has planned a variety of activities for rally participants including a poker run to shops and local venues in North Bend and Coos Bay. Tours of local attractions will be available to give visitors a taste of what the region has to offer. Members of the Coquille Indian Tribe will demonstrate native cooking techniques and discuss Tribal culture at a traditional salmon bake.

About Monaco International: Monaco International is one of the largest chapters of coach owners in the Family Motor Coach Association. The organization hosts several rallies every year in a variety of locations, often adjacent to the International FMCA Rally. Membership is open to anyone who owns any brand of motor home manufactured by Monaco Coach Corporation or Monaco RV. For more information, visit www.monacointernationalrvclub.com.

Summer is in full swing which means the Mill Luck Salmon Celebration is just around the corner! Plan now to experience Native American culture, art, food and music at the 11th Annual Mill Luck Salmon Celebration, September 13-14, 2014.

If you have never been to one of our celebrations, you don’t know what you are missing, so we’ll try to sum it up in 30 seconds:

The celebration is perhaps best known for its traditional salmon bake dinner where fresh salmon is prepared in the time-honored Coquille open-pit manner but it also features numerous family activities (many of them free) including canoe races, cultural exhibits and demonstrations, a Native American marketplace, and educational children’s activities.

Included again this year will be a “weigh station” and awards ceremony for the Annual Coos Basin Amateur Salmon Derby.

The Mill-Luck Salmon Celebration is linked to the traditional observance marking the return of the salmon and is intended to share the heritage, culture and traditions of the Coquille Indian Tribe and other Pacific Northwest Tribes.  Details for the 2014 celebration are still in the works so we encourage you to check back often for updates!
