Summer is in full swing which means the Mill Luck Salmon Celebration is just around the corner! Plan now to experience Native American culture, art, food and music at the 11th Annual Mill Luck Salmon Celebration, September 13-14, 2014.

If you have never been to one of our celebrations, you don’t know what you are missing, so we’ll try to sum it up in 30 seconds:

The celebration is perhaps best known for its traditional salmon bake dinner where fresh salmon is prepared in the time-honored Coquille open-pit manner but it also features numerous family activities (many of them free) including canoe races, cultural exhibits and demonstrations, a Native American marketplace, and educational children’s activities.

Included again this year will be a “weigh station” and awards ceremony for the Annual Coos Basin Amateur Salmon Derby.

The Mill-Luck Salmon Celebration is linked to the traditional observance marking the return of the salmon and is intended to share the heritage, culture and traditions of the Coquille Indian Tribe and other Pacific Northwest Tribes.  Details for the 2014 celebration are still in the works so we encourage you to check back often for updates!
