About The Area – Old

The area is comprised of three towns; Coos Bay, North Bend, and Charleston. Each has its own distinctive flavor and unique draws and are tied together by the body of water, Coos Bay. We are an area with deep working class roots set amongst one of the most scenic area of the Oregon Coast. It is not uncommon to see huge ocean-going freighters, recreational and working fishermen, and tourists all enjoying this place we call home. You can find directions on how to visit us here.

The best way to enjoy the area is to enjoy it as a whole. Hike or ride through the Oregon Dunes in North Bend, explore Shore Acres State Park and the Cape Arago Trail in Charleston, or stroll through downtown Coos Bay’s many shops and museums. The nearby charming town of Bandon and world-renowned Bandon Dunes Golf Resort is only 30 minutes away and makes for a perfect day trip.

You’ll find brochures of our local attraction in the lobby or simply ask any of our front desk agents and they’ll be happy to help you plan your days. You can also find more local tips here.

What to wear:

We have a temperate, mild marine climate year-round with seasonal fluctuations and daily ranges. We recommend packing a light, waterproof jacket and sweaters year-round for those that aren’t used to our evening breezes. Depending on the season, a combination of shorts and long pants will give you some options for daytime adventures.

We are a fairly casual area, so unless you attending a specific formal or business event, casual dress is welcomed most anywhere. With all our outdoor recreation options, our restaurants are used to seeing visitors in ATV gear, fishing clothes and all manner of outdoor dress.
A good pair of tennis shoes or hiking boots would be an excellent idea as our hiking trails are incredibly scenic and there are trails to suit every skill level as well as handicap accessible trails.
