Fall on the Southern Oregon Coast

Ask any of the locals on the Southern Oregon Coast what the best time of year is, and chances are you’ll hear that fall is the best time to visit. The weather is still warm, the winds have calmed and the summer crowds have gone away.

It all starts with the drive, Highway 38 is an explosion of fall colors amidst the backdrop of the Umpqua River. along the way stop at the Dean’s Creek Elk Viewing Area for great photo opportunities of these mighty animals.  Full grown elk can weigh in at over 1000 pounds so be sure to stay behind the wooden fence.

When you arrive at The Mill Casino you could very well be treated to the sight of fishermen and boats in front of the property, its a well known spot for catching salmon. For the latest fishing reports, reach out to our friends at Basin Tackle and they’ll share all the best secrets.

If your preference is to simply eat salmon instead of catching your own, treat yourself to dinner at The Plank House restaurant.
